This is part of a look back at our time in Italy last December. The post below follows this one.
With fewer than two full days left in Venice, I needed to do laundry. Given how cool and damp it was, it was going to take more than 24 hours for everything to hang dry. And it would be about a week before we’d be able to do laundry again given our upcoming travel. Since we only had so many clothes, we needed to head out with as many clean ones as possible. One saving grace was that we’d be able to swap our pants and long sleeves for shorts and short sleeves once we got to SE Asia.
Of course, it didn’t dawn on me to start the washing machine until well after dinner (~9:45pm based on the time stamp). And the machine didn’t have any indication of how long it would run…
Well, two hours later it was STILL running! I was SO tired and just wanted to go to bed. Unfortunately, I couldn’t figure out how to stop the machine or get the clothes out to hang them up. I felt like I was being held hostage by the washing machine, LOL. Chris tried to help (to no avail) and then suggested that I could dry the clothes in the oven if I was concerned about them not being dry by the time we had to pack the next night.
The OVEN?! I was in tears I was laughing so hard!
Finally, the machine stopped running and Chris managed to open it. Glory hallelujah, I’d never been so happy to hang up a load of laundry! No, we did not put any clothes in the oven. Good gracious!
PS: This all makes much more sense if you watch the videos.
